p.s. I forgot to credit a couple of other star singers from Friday - Jeremy from Oz with the great voice, and Daisy who sang Cry Me A River... I'm afraid I didn't catch everyone else's names!

We had a fantastic night last Friday at the Carnaby street piano. I organise jazz evenings for a living so I texted a few singer & musician friends + some of my mailing list and we rolled up to Carnaby street at about 7 o'clock. we were still there at midnight! Apart from myself on piano, there were several other pianists who passed by: Gabriel from Italy, Paul Wiffen (who's planning to play all 30 pianos), Marina Chan, and others. Plus star singer/entertainer Robbie Chard with his kazoo, Olly Jory on trumpet etc. etc. It was fab seeing such a large crowd enjoying themselves singing and dancing, and especially the girls from Paris! Thanks to Martin for printing and handing out the lyrics of "Smile" for everyone to sing along. And biggest thanks of course to whoever organised putting the pianos there in the first place - bringing complete strangers together through the music.
If anyone wants to hear Robbie perform again this evening he will be at 'The Drawing Room', 269 Portobello Road, around 7-10:30pm, with the Louche Lounge Society jazz band... (more details on www.jbhjazz.com).
Sorry I don't have any photos yet from the evening although people were taking loads - will put them up later if poss. I just saw this page and thought I'd upload a few thoughts :-)
Looking forward to playing the Westbourne Triangle piano later today...

Cool project! My friend and I enjoyed our coffee while listening to him play the piano. It made shopping in Carnaby Street more fun and enjoyable.

what a great idea...I was tinkling on the Carnaby St Piano this morning at around 0830 playing happy jazz stuff...once, that is, I had wrestled it off the French Students playing depressing circular chordal nonsense!...PLEASE leave the pianos there for good!
