I wandered down a soho sidestreet and saw a beautiful customised piano in the entrance of an art gallery on marshall street...it said "play me I'm yours" on it, and I just couldnt resist! My fingers ran over my favourite black keys, I have always played them like drums/percussion. The artist running the gallery ( Lee Campbell) said "come in a bit further and see the other pianos in here".
I couldnt believe this amazing Grand piano with a union jack painted on it and two stools in front. My friend and I sat down to improvise a duet on that one and we jammed for 30 minutes freestyling and makingup songs and lyrics and melodies- it was bliss and it drew people into the gallery too. Sadly we didnt record or photograph any of it- it was just a really magical moment in the reality of everyday city life!
Before leaving the gallery, I had a litlle run of my fingers over a very pretty green floral painted piano (one I would LOVE to own).
Three pianos in one space and I was told they are all going out on the streets on tuesday, which is my birthday! So i will definitely track down more pianos and get some videos playing on them.
I hope someone will play happy birthday for me on one.
I absolutely love this project in concept and in aesthetic.
I would LOVE to win a piano ( dont have room for the grand sadly) but any of the pretty painted ones would be so cool in my home.
I have been song-writing on a toy electric piano from a charity shop, for the past 6 years!
A real piano that is also an artwork would be an amazing thing to have at home, then i could host singalongs and maybe perform gigs with it too!
Thank you for this fantastic project that everyone can enjoy! x Giada D. http://www.youtube.com/littlewonderfilms

We are 'Freeway'. We play 60's music including lots of Beatles and Rolling Stones. We are very authentic sounding as we are lived through this music ourselves the first time round! Our guitarist was actually at the Woodstock Festival in New York!
We would love to perform in Carnaby Street.
