Ivory Pearl on the old Joanna

Chloe Coggin, a talented 16 year old ivory pearl (Cockney rhyming slang for girl) makes her debut at Church Street Market, playing a mixture of pop ranging from A Thousand Miles to Let it Be. Piano decoration by Anne Clements, whose exhibition, “Cockney Coded”, is on at the Old Joanna Gallery, 90 Church Street. So comb yer barnet, come on down, and ‘ave a ding dong round the old Joanna!

(15-20 minute session)

Sing Market Songs

27th June: 14:30 and 15:30 (two half-hour sessions)

Red Eyed Suburbanites lead the whole market in song round the Church Street Piano. Sing Market songs from Molly Malone to Obladee Obglada. There will be two half hour sessions for people of every age. Live a little... Sing a little... Sing Church Street Market.......

Pearly Kings & Queens round the old Joanna

Decked out in their shiniest pearl buttons, the Pearly Kings and Queens will sing a 20 minute set of London songs around the Cockney themed Joanna, including "My old Man", "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner" and “Barrow Boy”. After the Pearlies ‘ave poured pour out their “jam tarts”, come on down to the Old Joanna Gallery at 90 Church Street for the last day of the Cockney Rhyming Slang exhibition.

Charlie, 14, will be doing half an hour of improvisation. He rehearses with the National Jazz Youth Orchestra (NYJO) in the Cockpit Theatre, and will either play solo or perform as part of a trio. In 2007, he appeared on BBC 1's The One Show with Jools Holland. Expect the unexpected!

Calling all Tango lovers! Tango music and dance enthusiasts are all welcome to turn up to dance the tango al Fresco, accompanied by a pianist, on the triangle next to The Old Joanna Gallery. As part of the celebration, the gallery will be holding an end of exhibition sale to the sounds of Tango between 2.30pm and 4pm!
