Beautifully painted piano. Nice location (though we did get a little lost.) But you see that lovely shaded Porch in this photo? Why on earth isn’t this piano up there????

My husband and I had a lovely conversation with a photographer about the different locations we had been and the pianos we had seen, so that was nice. But it was very hot, I was kind of sick, and the piano was not in the greatest tune. Or maybe I am just getting depressed that I’m almost to my goal. This one was number 39 for me. Just 3 more to go. What will I have to look forward to then?

Maybe we should try to get WVXU/ WGUC to host a gathering of all of us who played all the pianos. I’d love to meet the other brave souls who did this.

Seventeenth stop on my pianistic journey- The Center for the Arts, Wyoming. I was reluctant to visit this one, due to the previous posts saying that this piano was virtually unplayable. Well, I went anyways, and someone must’ve serviced it in the last day, because it was playable. Precarious, maybe, but playable. I met a nice woman named Gina who was waiting for her daughter to get out of a guitar lesson. She’s the person who took this photo. Thanks!

Aside from the need for a tune up, a few stuck keys, and OK, a few ants that may have adopted it as their home away from home (did we ask if we could put this big thing atop its anthill?), this piano in front of the Wyoming Arts Center is so beautifully decorated. It has inspired a community to look newly at what pianos, art, and music can be.

A huge thank you and shout out to Art Coodinator Melinda Welch and Miranda Borack for the creative design and to all the students in Inna Terekhov’s Piano Explorations Camp who helped paint this work of art!
