I stopped by after work to play this one yesterday and (for the first time) I found keys sticking/not striking. I think it needs some TLC. I was really shocked, because, though I could tell there was some kind of hammer-alignment problem in the low end, I hadn't experienced keys failing more or less consistently on this one; my fave of the lot for location & condition. I drew a small crowd with a piano transcription of Bruckner's Symphony 6 in A major... Played a bunch of other great music, and jammed. Great way to wind down after work! The low end needs work. The tuning is a bit off and some very low key are striking weirdly... The high end sounds GREAT, and is pretty well tuned, too. Thanks to the piano technicians everywhere!! You make this so more viable with your good work. DJ Got back yesterday afternoon. I drew a small crowd with a piano transcription of Bruckner’s Symphony 6 in A major…

Wow! I've seen a few pictures of people with "Play Me, I'm Yours" shirts. Are those available to buy somewhere? <!-- image_comment_id: 622 --> I think this piano had one of the best spots! Wow!

Oh wait I do-- my son was getting bored with all this playing, and was busy taking lovely shots of everything else in Parrott Alley instead. I have lots of flower photos in iPhoto for this date. The piano itself was not in great shape the day we went out on this trip-- but I note in the comments that others have liked it, so I may try to hit it again since it's on extended play. So nice to see it looking and sounding so fine! I had a blast playing, and met another musician Bryan, and we played some inprompu blues duet which was quite fun. If these pianos were around all the time, I bet people'd be getting a lot of new ensembles together--and sharing so much more music! I just love the keys on this one; they are just prisine compared to many of the others, and I dig the sound in the alley. That sounds beatnik... DJ I had to come back to this one after vacation. This one took me by surprise...I was there for well over an hour, and made two new friends, Susan and Peg. Peg is in the background with her dog, Annie. These were just the nicest people you could imagine! Peg called up the Montgomery City Manager on the phone and held the phone in my direction as I was playing- she wanted there to be a public piano in Montgomery year round! For awhile it was just the three of us and the dog, but soon more people showed up, and I had some great conversations and watched others play as well. A car driving down Montgomery Road stopped and yelled out the window, "Hey, remember us? We saw you last night at the Jewish Community Center!" Hahaha...this is TRULY what this whole project is about. <!-- image_comment_id: 345 --> Ninth location visited- historic downtown Montgomery in Parrot Alley (directly across the Starbucks on Montgomery Road).
